Where am I now?

Well, Hello there!!!! Where have you been? Where have I been? Before I continue, I can't help but notice I have a Trippie Redd Video on in the background.

That is not a promotion nor is it relevant to my upcoming post. For those of you who don't know who trippie redd, let me explain it to you like this:

Wait, Cardi B "Up" is the next video.

Let me stop again. Does anyone even watch videos anymore? Can you remember the last video that you have watched? I can't.

I am really out of touch and confused by a song titled "Up".  She really only says "UP"

I think I know why I am in this situation. For the most part, I tend to spend an unusual amount of time and money eating and drinking when I am bored which seems like it would be boring.

And, I am usually more often than not  both eating, drinking and bored all at the same time in the GREAT STATE OF DELAWARE.

Yes, I said Delaware. I have not seen you  in 8-10. That sounds like I was in the Pen with the Thugs.

I wasn't in the Pen and I wasn't with the Thugs.

I left Atlanta on September 6, 2017 in a Uhaul Truck with a Sticky Cup Holder at 11:37 am. Yeah, dog, I left  Chocolate City, Black Hollywood, The Dirty Dirty, Aye, TI, Young Jeezy, "Say Woo, it's cool out chere"

It is pretty much everything that a normal person would never leave and I ended up in........................

delaware. (Does the lower case italics make it sound better or worse?)

Joe Biden claims Delaware as his home. In my last post which was literally 2012, he was the Vice President. Now, he is the 82 year old President. I am not sure if he is 82 but he is old.

Which brings me to how old I getting to be typing a blog on Google that I have not looked at for years.

It's been years since I posted anything to this blog. However, I would like to re-introduce you to the Blog that changed my life. (Not really, that shit just sounds dramatic)

It was and forever will be called "The Unofficial Foodie Review".

Sorry, wait a second............... I heard the song before that's on my television set. Lil Durk and Coi Leray. It' actually a pretty good song.  My girlfriend just informed me that the song name is Lil Guidance.

Actually, let me pause and listen to the rest of this song.........................................................

Got it. The real name is  "No More Parties" by Coi Leray. Ok, I digress again. I had to mute my Hip Hop Coolness but I literally can't finish my post listening to the likes of 69, Coi Leray and Pop Smoke.

Ok, I muted the music. At this point, I am sitting here on the phone with my old lady, writing this post   waiting for Game 6 of the NBA Finals. It is tomorrow at 9pm.

I have to admit that normally I would likely go downstairs and visit my favorite restaurant in Delaware.

I would go down and I say I am getting the food to go.

Venu would say, "you hanging out"

Dario: Yeah, I am hanging out for a minute

Venu: $$$$$$$$$$$$. 4 courses or what?

Dario: Yep

This is my experience at:

CIRO Food & Drink (cirofoodanddrink.com)

However, it is closed today and the chef is not there until Thursday. But, trust me, in light of my senseless babbling, this is absolutely the best restaurant in Delaware.

Please see for yourself:

Sincerely,

The AVERAGE MAN

I have been to this place once before with a coworker and I did not know what to think of it. Maybe that is because I had too much to drink. Possible? For me? I won't answer that question. Anyhow, I went again last night on a Partial Day Date with my lovely woman. The first thing I noticed is that it was dark. It had that Dive Bar feeling but when I thought about it further, it really had a Neighborhood bar feeling. You know? Like, a real neighborhood bar...It was a lot of locals and they had an impressionist singer reciting everything from Pretty Woman to Neil Diamond. He actually was not bad. They had this bar heckler there that made my girlfriend kind of upset because he was screaming at the guy while he was singing. Anyhow, oh yeah, the food.......The food was okay at best. The steak was pretty dry and the everything else like the bake potato and steamed vegetables was average. However, I must say that the food did not damper my spirits on this  place called The Place. Wow......That just happened!!!! Really to sum it up, there are some places where you go for food and there are some places you go to hang out, have a few drinks and shoot the shit. This is one of those places. I can see myself going back in the near future.

Imagine what it would be like to eat the same exact sandwich two to three times a week...for more than a year. Most people would begin to loathe that sandwich and dread having to eat it again. This isn't the case for me.

I go to Toscano & Sons at least twice a week for lunch to have the market's delicious Porchetta panini (with seasoned roast pork and fontina cheese). Because I've been getting the same sandwich for so long, the owners know me by name and know what I'll order before I say anything.

Why have I not grown sick and tired of this sandwich? Because it's amazing. And on the rare occasion that I try one of Toscano & Son's other paninis, I find I love them too (just not as much as the Porchetta).

And the paninis are all under $5, which is a bargain lunch for what you get.

I give my favorite sandwich shop an "A" for great food, reasonable prices and awesome owners.

Have you ever had a potato pancake with cream cheese and apple sauce? What about Spätzle? What about Schnitzel? Those are the type of traditional German Dishes you can find at Kurt's and Vreny's. Honestly, I have had German Cuisine twice now and it does not knock me off my feet.

However, at least now, I can do a decent comparison of certain dishes. For example, I enjoyed the Kaese Spätzle much more at Kurt's and Vreny's. That was an appetizer The Foodie ordered. Spätzle is an egg noodle of soft texture. Kaese Spätzle is just those egg noodles blended with cream and emmenthaler cheese. Emmentaler cheese is a yellow, medium hard cheese that is from Switzerland. It has holes in it similar to Swiss Cheese and is sometimes called the Swiss Cheese of North America. Here is a picture of Kaese Spätzle:

Ok, ok, it's macaroni and cheese with a fancy name but it was good.  Also, I had a Sausage Bratwurst Appetizer and a the 5-6oz Fried Twin Maine Lobster Tails for my entree. I enjoyed my appetizer and my entree was different but very good. They actually fried the lobster tails. Anyhow, I have always wondered what Bratwurst tasted like and now I finally know.Well, I don't know because I can't explain what it tastes like but................ yeah, I don't really have anything else to say about it. Anyhow, the meal was decent and we ended up only paying about 50 bucks including the tip because we took advantage of another Open Table Spotlight deal. Those deals are starting to be nice. Still, I hate to present the coupon at restaurants for some reason. Maybe I don't want to look like the serial coupon guy.

Weird or Not? It is kind of weird but whatever....... Lastly, the wait staff was pretty awesome. I don't usually say awesome but I could not think of another nerdy word. They were extremely nice and our waiter actually got into a German conversation with "The Foodie". That was kind of cool except for the fact that I did not understand a damn thing they were saying. I would go back to Kurt's and Vreny's if I am craving macaroni and cheese and Italian sausage. lol!!!!

Happy Eating,
